Selecting A Niche Using 3 Google Search Commands

by Matthew Rizos
Selecting a Niche Using 3 Google Search Commands

In this article I will teach you how to select a niche and see how much competition you’ll be facing.

Ok, you’re ready to start selling something! Great. Now, let’s make sure we aren’t competing against too many other sites. First things first. We need to select a keyword phrase. A keyword phrase is what search engine users will type into the search engine when looking for a product or service.

Since most web users use the Google Search engine I will be discussing Google commands. To gauge the number of competing sites in our niche we will perform a Google search using our phrase in quotes. An example would be “garmin nuvi gps navigation”.

Ok, our results should be under 50,000. Anything more makes SEO optimization a bit difficult. This gives a general overview of the competition on the internet for that phrase.

Next, we will see how many websites have the phrase in their pages title tag. Let’s go to Google.com and search for: allintitle:”garmin nuvi gps navigation”

Here, we’re looking for a total result of 5000 or less (less is better). At this current time there are 324 websites that have specifically designed pages to fit that phrase. That, my friends is your true competition. Your SEO and website needs to be better that those results.

The final Google command that we will be discussing is allinanchor. First, what is anchor text. Anchor text is the visible link text in a url.

The anchor text (or visible text) would be: Garmin Nuvi GPS navigation, not my website name. Anchor text should be very keyword rich and if often one of the best ways to achieve an increased SERP. Instead of choosing gps-units.org as my anchor text I have instead chosen a keyword rich anchor text (Garmin Nuvi GPS navigation).

When searching for allinanchor:”my niche phrase” your results should be 5000 or less (the lower the better). The final Google command to use when searching for a niche is allinurl:”my niche phrase”. Allinurl is just as important as allintitle. Allinurl results means that your competition has designed and named a page around your niche phrase. An example would be www(dot)gps-units(dot)org / garmin-nuvi-gps-navigation(dot)htm

We need to make sure that there are a very low number of results returned. In this case 1000 or less will do (less is better).

So, those are the 3 Google commands I use to help me select a prospective niche. I hope this article makes sense and helps you find prospective niches.

Keyword Research for SEO Conversion

If you have a website that sells products or provides a service, then you know the value of search engine optimization. You are well aware that there is on page search engine optimization, and off page search engine optimization, and only if both of these techniques are combined and used smartly and effectively, will you actually be able to leverage your website to make sales and generate income. However, many people do not understand and do not employ useful and well researched keywords for search engine optimization purposes. In this article, we will discuss how we can focus on converting keywords by using conversion tracking. Many people on the web are successful in their Internet businesses, because of one thing — keyword conversion tracking. This is one of the primary focuses of Profit Lance, which is a program geared towards helping beginner Internet entrepreneurs to start businesses, set up websites, and run them effectively and profitably. In essence, anyone who does not track their conversions are simply spending money and getting nothing in return. This is because if specific keywords that you are advertising on PPC campaigns do not actually lead to any sales, there is no point to continue to pay for clicks resulting from those keywords. For example, I once left my online web store to sort of run on autopilot, and in a typical week, I would make approximately $100 in sales. Because this was not too bad, I simply left it for weeks at a time, hoping that sales would increase. This was an obvious mistake, because I was spending a lot of money advertising for keywords that did not pull in enough qualified traffic to convert to sales. Most of those searching and clicking my ads ended up leaving the website within a short period of time. Only after I began tracking my keyword conversions, did I come to the conclusion that I should not be advertising for specific keywords that have been performing poorly. And what I did was maximized my bids for those keywords that were performing up to par and providing results.

A lot of people who run advertising campaigns tend to get lazy after a while. They see sales roll in, and they never analyze it, and improve upon it in order to increase sales. They sort of run into a sales ceiling mode, and leave it at that. That is fine, if you’re okay with the sales that you are currently making. However, if you’re looking to maximizing and multiplying your profits and sales potential, you must take action, and the most important step is to track your keywords and check for conversion rates. Again, Profit Lance offers many tools and resources that help beginning Internet entrepreneurs to focus on converting keywords.

Maximize Your Search Results-Part 1

Ad online marketing software
When searching for information on the search engines most people just type in their keywords and then dig through the thousands (usually millions) of pages until they find what they are looking for. This can be very tedious and time consuming. It can also be very frustrating especially if you are short on time or have limited access to a computer.

The ability to find what you need quickly and painlessly is what the internet is supposed to be about. Here are some tips to help you understand how to maximize your search results while minimizing your time spent searching.

Finding the exact phrase: If you know the exact phrase you’re looking for, tell the search engine to return only pages with the words in the order in which you type them. This type of search provides you with fewer search results than the Find All of The Words search. Syntax example: “internet marketing tips”.

Finding at least 1 of the words: You can tell Google to find pages with any of the words or phrases you provide. Syntax example: rodent OR racing

Omit pages with particular words: You can tell Google to search for a phrase but to omit pages that contain particular words. For instance, you may want to find all the pages with the phrase internet marketing but omit the pages containing the word affiliate. Syntax example: “internet marketing” -affiliate

Find a page in the index: Google provides a way to search for a particular page to see if it’s in the Google index. However, Google is a little inconsistent in its results; sometimes it provides a lot of information about the page and sometimes only a little (less than it has available). It also provides four links to other types of searches: the page stored in the cache, pages that are similar, pages that link to the specified page, and pages that contain the URL in their text. Syntax example: info:internet-marketing.com or internet-marketing.com

There are many more ways to maximize your search results and spend less time searching and more time finding. May your searches be more productive and your search engine experience less painful.

Part 2 coming soon.

To have the right kind of SEO web designing you need to have a designer well versed with the process. A web designer for SEO needs to be good at conversion optimization skill. It is essential for them to have a clear idea about the best colors which will draw people to check your site. And if they are conversant with eye tracking studies which enables them read the visitors reaction after visiting the site it stands as an added advantage. It is equally important for the web designer to have a sufficient knowledge of CSS and the process of putting the main formatting into the file.

So you need to be very careful while choosing a designer. To ensure the right selection you must have a look at their portfolio. This will help you know about the kind of designs they have made in the past, and seek the advice of experts in this field. Another good way to make up your mind about SEO web designing is to see the designs of the sites of leaders in a particular industry. This gives you a vague idea about the preferences of your target market.

To ensure visitors stay longer a website must be easy to get around. SEO friendly web designs must be like road maps which give a detailed indication to the user about the different paths and links. Some essential SEO web designing patterns are listed below.

• It is essential for the site to have portions with high contrast. This invariably attracts the visitor’s eye. • The headings must be made with different font sizes and larger fonts. However usage of too many font styles needs to be discouraged. • All links should be underlined in blue. All text and images must be surrounded and click able links must have white spaces. • All pictures need to carry captions. • Proper alignments must be used to separate different information from different sources. • Proper navigation structure must be used on each page along with white space and proper anchors. Headers and group of text need to be used so that visitors can find it easy to read and locate. • Navigation needs to be organized to increase chances to find. Navigation that has more mouse-over drop downs needs to be avoided. • While designing product pages page specific Meta data and h1 tag along with unique content need to be used.
